Nature Scavenger Hunt

Become a nature detective by joining the nature scavenger hunt at Wildcat Mountain. Search high and low throughout the property to find all the items on the list before time runs out.

Meet at the park office. There will be an easy and hard version of the scavenger hunt.

Yoga in the Parks

Yoga in the Parks

Join certified yoga instructor Sam Hudnall for a nature immersed and inspired session. The event is beginner friendly: all levels and skills are welcome. Bringing a mat or towel is recommended.

This event is weather dependent and will take place at the upper picnic area.

Earth! Work! Play! Day

Bring along friends and family to join park staff and Friends of Wildcat Mountain State Park for this fun annual stewardship event and celebration of Earth Month. Activities may include tree planting, campground and trail clean up, invasive species removal, picnic table maintenance and litter clean up. Bring sturdy footwear and some work gloves. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Wildcat Mountain State Park. After volunteering we encourage you to stay and recreate in the park for the afternoon!

Candlelight Ski/Hike

Hike, snowshoe, or ski a 1.5 mile torchlit trail, warm up around a roaring campfire, and gaze up

at the stars. Refreshments will be available.

5-7 PM John Heasley of Driftless Stargazing, LLC will be hosting a stargazing activity, weather

permitting. Bring binoculars and learn to use them for stargazing.

Programs may be canceled due to inclement weather.

The study will focus on the floodplain forest, the wet cliff and the hemlock relicts. Each month, the same trail/route will be used to observe the same plants in different stages of growth.

The Hemlock trail is moderate to difficult with some steep sections leading up to the overlook. The trail can be wet and slippery. Sturdy shoes and bug repellent are recommended.

The event will be held rain or shine.

Please meet in the Lower Picnic area parking lot.

Steve’s music is a combination of some of that bluegrass style mixed with many popular, old-style country tunes from Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins, as well as some '70s type singer/songwriters like John Prine, Jim Croce, John Denver, James Taylor and of course, Gordon Lightfoot. There might even be a little fancy guitar picking thrown in. Hopefully, there will be something for everyone.

“Our Milky Way” and Night Sky Viewing

Meet at the Amphitheater at 8 to see the presentation "Our Milky Way" by Tom Auchter before walking out to the group camp to look at the night skies through provided telescopes. Reminder that no car headlights, no white light flashlights or phone flashlights are allowed at group camp to preserve night vision for all. Red lights are perfectly acceptable. No laser pointers please.
